Bernard Dwork is the most senior attorney at Barron & Stadfeld. His career has spanned over 50 years, in which he has been a distinguished litigator in diverse areas of the law, including personal injury, business and family law. Over the past half-century, he has successfully tried numerous high-profile cases.
Mr. Dwork has been a regular guest lecturer at continuing legal education seminars and Boston-area law schools on topics including the cross examination of expert witnesses and avoidance of malpractice suits for medical professionals. In addition, he served on the Civil Procedure Committee for the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and was a Director of the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Education Foundation.
Select Cases
- Successfully tried longest divorce case in Massachusetts history, where one of the parties was the founder of a national retail corporation. The trial lasted 51 days, and the judge commented that Mr. Dwork did the best trial he ever heard, winning every point.
- Successfully represented one of the three general partners of a major sports franchise in a shareholders’ dispute brought forth to force Mr. Dwork's client out of the organization. Mr. Dwork won the case, allowing the client to remain a general partner with the organization.
- Won the first plaintiff’s decision in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in a medical malpractice case. The case involved a baby who was stuck by a pin when the nurse was diapering her, causing her to develop an infection. Recovered judgment for the hospital's failure to properly treat the infection.
- Received a citation from from the Internal Revenue Commission for identifying two agents who were accepting bribes. Mr. Dwork gathered the evidence to convict them, resulting in prison terms for both individuals.
