Serge Georges, Jr. is an experienced trial attorney, concentrating in criminal defense, complex business litigation and matters involving professional licensure and liability. Mr. Georges has successfully defended all types of criminal cases, including motor vehicle-related offenses, OUI, assault and battery, sexual assaults and major felonies in both District and Superior Court.
He also represents business clients in a wide range of disputes, including breach of contract, violation of non-compete agreements and breach of fiduciary duties. Mr. Georges represents professionals in administrative investigations before boards of professional licensure, such as the Board of Registration for Real Estate Professionals. His professional liability practice includes representation of architects, engineers, and attorneys in a wide range of matters.
An adjunct professor of “Massachusetts Practice” at Suffolk University Law School, Mr. Georges also volunteers with the Boston-based organization, Year Up, which is dedicated to giving urban young adults access to education, experiences, and guidance that lead to professional opportunities.
Select Cases
- Successfully obtained dismissal of charges for armed home invasion where client was facing a mandatory minimum sentence of twenty years if convicted;
- Dismissal of $150,000 suit against client for breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty;
- In a case where client was stopped for OUI after multi-car accident, successfully obtained dismissal of the charge of leaving the scene of personal injury, which allowed the remaining charge of OUI to be continued without a finding;
- Successfully defended a Boston real estate developer against abutter's claim of adverse possession. After a five day trial, the jury returned a verdict for the developer, and he was awarded full recovery of his costs;
- Represented a Cambridge real estate developer in various appeals of the grant of several variances. After filing and arguing several motions, including summary judgment, the abutter's claims were dismissed and the multi-unit project was allowed to proceed;
- Obtained a six figure judgment for a homeowner against a general contractor for breach of contract and c. 93A consumer protection violations. The judgment included treble damages, costs and an award of attorney's fees.
