Everybody has a general idea of what they want in a home, but is there anything in particular one should look for when looking at a home?

Location, location, location of course.  But, in addition, there are certain things that HUD recommends you consider when looking at a home.  Such as:

·        Is there enough room for both present and future needs (kids coming)?

·        Are there enough bedrooms and bathrooms?

·        Is the house structurally sound?

·        Do the mechanical systems and appliances work?

·        Is the yard big enough?

·        Do you like the floor plan?

·        Will your furniture fit in the space?

·        Is there enough storage space?

·        Does anything need to be repaired or replaced?

·        Will the seller repair or replace those items?

·        Imagine the house in good weather and bad and in each season; will you be happy there year round?

·        How close is it to your job?

·        How much money will you have to have in order to make repairs or changes that you would want to make when you move in?

·        How far is it from the schools that your children may attend?

·        Are there children in the neighborhood if you have children?

These and other questions need to be considered before deciding on which home to buy.
